98 QX4 has i bad idle causing jerking at 65mph and dead stops

hi guys looking for some help to fix my 98 QX4 it will go dead at stops and jerk going down the highway, at idle the RPMs will rise fall alot.

Sure sounds like it's getting starved for fuel. Easiest place to start is with a new fuel filter.

worse comes to worse could also be bad cap and rotor

Also maybe, possibly, be really bad plug wires. Park it in your garage when dark outside and lights off, pop hood, PLEASE have door up/open (!!!!), and have someone rev it while you look under the hood. Quick test for the wires up to the boot.

I agree with previous thread - sounds more like fuel, especially the idle kill part, but it's an idea.

Distributor had some metal shavings in it blew it out good replaced the cap and botton runs like a dream!

i need a new Distributor tho anyone know where i can pick one up cheap? the lowest i found was at napa $265!!
