Noticed today my 98 QX4 driver side outer CV boot is torn. Not good for rainy winter condition. Is it easy to do the CV myself? Can I do it without taking out the drive shaft? If I have to take out the shaft, can I do it quickly so I can work on the shaft in my apartment? Any special tools needed? Approx time? Parts needed to order besides the boot itself, i.e. o-ring etc.
Found a how-to on the Nissan vehicle's CV boot job but I think the QX4 is different since it does not use the lock nut as mentioned in the other article.
Recently moved in to an apartment and the manager does not want to see anybody fixing car in the parking lot, which is kind of annoying.
Thanks.
