My 98 Q45 transmission is slow shifting into drive the 1st time each day. It seems to shift to reverse quickly but not drive. It works fine the rest of the day and while driving. I have changed the fluid but that didn't help. I have done some research regarding the shift solenoids but the discussions seem to refer to the 1-2 & 2-3 shift not p-d. Has anyone had experience with this issue. Thanks

Wow, you could be on the way out. My advice is to find a good transmission shop and have them evaluate it. A rebuild is going to cost a hell of a lot so maybe your going to get lucky and it is something around it.

FInd a trusted shop NOT Amco and get it professionally evaluated ASAP........it might not be worthwhile to fix but will

Had a coworker with a older Buick Lesabre with exact same symptoms- car would not go when placed in "drive" only when cold-he would let car warmup 5-10 minutes then all was fine for rest of day, unless it was winter-then if car sat for hours, same thing would happen......he drove it for 2-3 years like that!!!! Finally donated it and bought another car

Shame on you for comparing our beloved Q to a lowly Buick. :nono: I'm sure the Buick's problem was due to shoddy QA at the manufacturer, whereas the Q's problem is surely lack of maintenance by a PO.

Try changing out the factory filter, as it sounds like a low line pressure symptom to me...
