Hello weirdos of the Q45 forum..

I've been interested in buying a Y33 lately and I think I found a good car. 1998 40k miles

But I'm not sure what the value would beThe guy wants 15, but I don't want to pay more than 11k

What would you guys pay for the car

15 is way too high. NADA average retail is 12,800. I wouldn't pay more than 10,000 for it, and then only if it's in excellent condition. It's a 9 year old car.

Yeah thats what I was thinking

Damn old geezer probably won't let it go for 9k that I really want to pay for it

$9000 would probably be a little low unfortunately.

This requires the services of the Jesda's pants

Jesda I require your negociating skills.Do you think you can get this guy to let this car go for 9-10 (perferably 9).If you did it there would be some $$, airmailed food or a combination of booth

Guy's asking 15k for a 40k mi. 98 and you think you can get it for 9? Good luck man, if you do that, you have mad negotiating skills. I think you should be able to get it for 11-12k though.

LOL, 15k. Just wait it out. As his car sits, he'll figure out after a while that no one wants to pay Lexus prices for an Infiniti.

precisely.... PLus with as reliable as Qs are, theres no reason to pay for high miles.

Theres a Y33 for $7900 withreasonable miles I can look at it if youd like to... Its about 2-3 hours from you...

http://www.cars.com/go/search/...=true

I think paying 10k for a 97-98 Y33 is too much!

ya 9000 is a stretch.

there was a 99 with 30,000 miles that prolly sold for around 12-13,000 around the Los angeles are not too long ago.

but if anyone spots a Y33 with low miles around the 9-11 price range let me know

The VH41DE (97-01 Q45) is a very reliable long term engine (assuming proper maintenance), and I wouldn't let "miles" dictate your buying decision. A good inspection and proper maintenance reocrds are worth much more.

There should be plenty of 98-00 Q45's within 4 hrs of Chicago for ~$11k.

In chicago the engine isn't generally something that you look at.Its the shot suspension and and rusting frame and body that you try to avoid by buying a lower mileage vehicle

If you see anything you like near St Louis, I'd be willing to look for you. Nice thing is, all the generations of Qs here are babied by old folks and almost never driven in the winter.

One reason I would pay more for a low mile FY33 from a salt free state is the crummy ATF cooler.

Lady here had a 2001 t in the paper with 37K for $19.9K. Don't think it sold.

Yeah, I agree, my point was that I wouldn't let the miels influence my decision as much as I would a good body, underbody, suspension and transmission. You'd think there's been a few southern Q's that relocated to Chicago over the years.

Whats up guys

I found another Q

its a 2000 anniversary edition black/black Guys said its been well maintained and he has all the service records

the guy wants 13200 for it

Do you guys think that 12k would be a good deal for a 2000?

DJ... I recently saw a black anniversary edition that looked REALLY clean. Guy was selling it about 2 blocks from where I work.

If you'd like I'll go check out the mileage and condition and report back. I'm only about 3 hours from you...and, a visit to my house comes with a free steak!

Free steak? interesting

I'm actually looking for something a little closer seeing as I have to buy a car before monday and I'm gonna be bogged down most of the Holiday and weekend with homework. Thanks for the offer though, it nice to know that members are willing to help you out.

I am looking for a consensus on a good priceThat way I won't feel crummy because I paid too much for it

I just got my 2000 Anniversary Edition with 48,000 miles for $12,300. I will be changing all coolant and transmission fluid next week, just did the oil myself - Mobil 1 Synthetic. I think I got a pretty good deal, so the $13k range is a good deal - at least I think so...

How many miles on it?

(And yes, some of us believe that mileage really does matter!)

Nice, welcome to the Q-crowd .

Any luck getting the maintenance records from Infiniti?

Nice... let me know if you need help with anything. Not that I have any idea what I could help you with... I barely know my way around the G50.

I'd love to help you do a great detail job on it though! I've got all the pro detailing tools... we could bring the finish of your Q back to the day it was made. Let me know.
