There was a thread about using the Q LCD screen as a DVD display. I think it was about the F50, but it may apply to the Y33.

Oops, it was a G35. zerothread?id=214122

Also search for nav hack or dvd hack, as Ive heard this question's been asked plenty of times.

I would seriously doubt this is a possible thing, but yes it is a Clarion Player, you can use standard clarion cartidges in their (I had 3 left of magazines from my old Clarion radio in a car long gone).

I would suggest the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 thread.

I was unaware navigation, and thus LCD screens, was availble as an option in 1998.

I'm confused. Are you trying to get your Clarion CD changer to play DVD's. That I think is very tough, unless youre a great electrical engineer and can modify the changer and update firmware. Ive never heard of this being done.

BadQ, how do you think the AVIC compares to your setup?/threadjack

You'll need to replace the head unit.

Random facts:Nissan/Infiniti introduced GPS navigation to its US lineup in 2000.Oldsmobile first offered a factory GPS system in 1996 with its Guidestar system.Nissan/Infiniti was first to offer voice-operated navigation in 2002.

I'm stock right now. I'm just using the old cartidges so when I go on long trips I take 3 6 packs of disks.

I have been drooling over the Pioneer and Eclipse units, I think I'm waiting to see what Kevin does, but seriously your not going to be able to play DVDs with any of the stock 1997-99 equipment in your car. Even a stock Nav system has to be hacked to play DVDs.

I think your looking in-dash replacement, once you can burn MP3's onto DVD you could bring like 200 albums with you on a trip and the changer in the trunk becomes an afterthought.

I have a new Alpine unit that i bought for my X-Terra, it was only $199 and plays CD-R's with MP3's and I get 10 albums or so per, very fun...also has iPod and Aux connector.

The Q remains stock, I think either the Pioneer or Eclipse come bonus season for me in September
