I have a 98 Chilkoot and recently its been having erratic starting issues.
On first crank after sitting over night it usual starts, but if I let it run for as little as 2 mins, and shut it off, it doesnt want to fire up again, it just cranks, engine isnt even warm yet.
I let it sit for 20+ mins, and usually it starts again within 2 or three tries.
I did find a rather large split in the small elbow that connects the intake pipe to the throttle body, I tried patching it best I could thinking it was a mixture problem.
Going to replace fuel filter and check fuel pump flow, I dont have a pressure gauge but I figure if I disconnect the fuel line and hold it into a bottle with ignition turn to on, I should see some kinda flow.
The truck has 310.000 km on it and I dont know if the filter has ever been replaced.
The weird thing is, once it does finally start, it runs just as strong as it ever has.
Just wondering what else to look at, distributor possibly?
Also, what other vehicles match for replacement parts, my local pick n pull only has a couple pathys.
Thanks guys
