98 Pathfinder seat belt light stays on.

Hi, I was driving with my seat belt on and the dummy light came on and also flashed, any idea why? After getting home i turned off and restarted the SUV and unbuckled/rebuckled a few times but it's still on.

The only suggestion I could find here was to simply trace back the wires and look for shorts or bad connections

Our seatbelts have a lifetime warranty...I wonder if this sort of thing is covered or not. Might be worth a call to the dealership.

Swapping out a new receiver from eBay or the like may fix it too.

My guess would be the receiver too. I remember when I drove around without my seat belt on that the light would stay off and now it stays on either with the seat belt on or off. Is there a sensor inside the receiver? could it be dirty and can it be cleaned?

This video isn't a QX4 or Pathfinder, but it makes me think you could disassemble yours to find out what's going on.
