A couple of months ago I was driving down the highway at about 75mph and I lost driving power to my Pathfinder. I got to the shoulder of the road and when I got under 50mph my gas pedal came back and let me drive to the next exit. A govenor kicked in to keep me under 50mph.

When I got off the highway the computer was read and it was the knock sensor. The mechanic told me the computer kicked a govenor on while I was driving. When I got off the highway the engine overheated a little. The coolant was replaced but ever since then I have been having problems with the car overheating.

When I drive the car usually stays right about 50% temp. After sitting in traffic or driving for a while the temp will shoot all the way up. I have to turn the heat on full blast to get it to stop and come back down. The heater almost always works.

I had the fan clutch replaced because I was told it went bad. No difference. Does anyone have any ideas???? It is driving me crazy and I am worried I am doing damage every time it heats up.

Thanks,Swag

YES, CHANGE YOU THERMOSTAT! Mine did the exact same thing and then overheated and blew the water pump 3 days later. Please don't wait like I did!
