I picked up a 98 Nissan Pathfinder with a bad distributor. a friend let me borrow his distributor which I replaced it in the field and it started just fine drove it home & removed the loaner. The following week i purchased one through eBay installed it and got a no start no spark. I troubleshot based on 6 page technical document I found online and based on the testing its showing I have a bad crank position sensor. No codes relating to the crank sensor only a fuel temp code which I erased. Vehicle is still a no start & wondering what to do.

Thx, Luni

I would start by ruling out your ebay distributor by asking your friend to lend his again... then from there I would start the troubleshoot... I have seen many post about bad distributor when not oem ...

I have a 98 QX4. When I had a failed crank position sensor, it did not show a code. My mechanic diagnosed it based on the pulse for the fuel injection. If yours is indeed bad, you need to return the distributor. These cars dont have the best diagnostic system in the world.
