98 Nissan Pathfinder

Hello Experts.. So my 98 Nissan Pathfinder went completely dead thought it was a alternator issue replaced that as well as battery . still blowing the 10a meter fuse gauges are not working and ATP light is on. I just read a thread that said they had the same problem and it turned out to be a problem with a switch on the transfer case which he disconnected and fixed the problem. Any feedback on this how do I get that fixed and how much should it cost. Is this something that can be done in the driveway or am I looking at pricey repairs. thanks
