Does it still crank over and just not start, or does it do absolutely nothing when you turn the key?

I'm going to move this thread to the general Altima forum so it can get more traffic/better answers.

it does nothing, I changed 2 relays and still nothing, all I was doing was putting in a belt and I was just trying to use the screwdriver to tighten the alternator, could it be the emc cause I had the car in accessory for a flash light.

Tough call, I'd say try changing out the ECU with another before buying one if you have access to one.

I don't suppose it is a manual transmission is it? You could try to push start it to isolate the problem to the starter circuit.

Yeah it could be anything. You basically have to start at one end of the circuit and test/replace as necessary.

Check the switch for function, then the relay, then voltage at the starter, etc.
You'll probably have to download the factory service manual and read it until your eyes bleed. There is a link to them in my sig, or www.nicoclub.com/fsm
