The third post down in this thread links to a lot more threads with great info. Don't mind it's in the Q forum, it's still very relevant to the Max. It gives some good insight into ordering straight plug-in LED replacements or building your own. For most lamps in the 4th gen you should be able to find LED lamps that'll directly replace the stock incandescent lamps, so it shouldn't be a difficult project at all.
With the 98-99 gauges you get hot spots like a mofo with those led bulb deals. I had them in my gauges for a couple months. Two burnt out, luckily i ordered extra, and the hot spots were retarded. IIRC it was 5-7k rpm on the tach that wasn't lit up and 50mph area on the speedo that wasn't lit.
The 95-97 gauges use a larger bulb so it's a little bit better. I highly recommend picking up some LED's and resistors and soldering them in yourself. That way you can eliminate hot spots. I have about 15 in my gauges at the moment. Next time i take my dash apart I'm adding two more for the speedo and tach needle.
Window switches you have to solder led's in place of the dim factory ones. CC you might be able to do the bulb deal but I don't know never looked into it just soldered my own in.
I also made boards for the dome/map/courtesy lights. They do have pre-made ones but I had alot of LED's to use up. Without cutting anything apart you can fit 20 in the dome. 12 in each map light. And 9 in each courtesy. If you start cutting away you can fit ALOT more.
