Anyway to pinpoint exact problem myself ? I just had knock sensor replaced and thought I was done.

Anyways according to this it could be one of many candidates.

EVAP canister is a canister that looks like a bucket and it's located on one side of the gas tank when you look at your undercarriage. It sits on the opposite side of the muffler and on the same side as the gas cap. P0440 may be caused by defective gas cap but when you get both P0440 and P1448 then the cause is one of the following: EVAP canister vent control valve, EVAP control system pressure sensor and circuit, Blocked rubber tube to EVAP canister vent control valve, Water separator, EVAP canister is saturated with water, Vacuum cut valve.

So, as you can see, you need to take the car to a shop and inspect the EVAP system, you'll be lucky if it's just some valve or hose, the worst case is the canister itself, which costs close to $400 from the dealer. I can't list the procedure to verify the exact defective component here, it's too long.

Anybody got the procedure that this guy is talking about.

Any service bulletin on this combo?

Whoever gave you that information is on the right track. And as you can see, there is no way that anyone can pinpoint the problem, based on the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) alone. It's more like a guide as to where to look for/begin with in isolating the problem.

Best thing you can do is check the gas cap if it's in good condition (non-OEM gas cap may not fit exactly, causing leak). Check the filler neck and remove corrosion, if any. Then jack up the rear wheel, on the side of the gas cap, secure with jack stand and then check all the tubes and fittings connected to the Evap Canister and nearby components. If you have to disconnect any tube, make sure you label it to avoid making wrong connections.
