Alright guys. I've been troubleshooting this problem for quite some time and I still can't figure out what's going on, I'm gonna post a description of when it first happened, and then I'll post some observations I have made trying to figure it out.
The Story:I'm driving one afternoon after treating myself to some starbucks, I turn right onto a main road however it's this intersection with tons of ruts and potholes. As I start hitting the bumps my car dies and as I try to restart the engine cranks but will not start. After checking multiple different mechanics that could have malfunctioned we (my friend and I) observed a blown fuse in the engine bay, which was the EGI fuse. I replaced it with one of the AC fuses (7.5 for a 7.5 trade) and it started right up. Since then the fuse has been blowing and killing my ignition until I replace the fuse in which case it cranks back up and I'm good to go.
Observations:-It generally has only happened in first gear, and if I do feel / catch it quick enough I can save it with the clutch. When it does die out though it usually gives me no fair warning and just dies before I notice it. -Usually happens in low first gear rpms. Not to the stalling point, but just at like 25-3000 rpms. If I kick it up to like 4000-4500 rpms when getting off the stop I can usually avoid it from happening. -All sensors are plugged in and have been tested with no problems. -ECU Wires and connections show no faults. -Battery connection is perfect. -Check Engine Light only comes on when the car is in the process of dying. Before and after it dies, nothing shows up. -Fuse blows at random and no specific time period in between one another. -Every now and then after a fuse change I will start the car and the fuse will blow immediately.
Any help with this is extremely appreciated. I have some suspicions as to the problem is. I got in a front end accident in October and damaged my front radiator core support. Enjuku's Esteban informed me that there is a wiring harness tucked under the core support that could have gotten damaged in the impact, resulting in one or two pinched wires that can be touching each other and causing the fuse to go POP! If you guys think this is it (I don't have alot of time on my hands outside of class) or have any other suspicions as to what is going on I would appreciate it. Esteban has looked at my car for about two hours and performed a whole wiring diagnosis and was unable to locate the problem. The harness up front (core support) has not been looked at.
Thanks again.
