Just some pics that show some things concerning swapping out an older 92 KA S13. I installed a good 98 S14 engine. I had to swap the AT that came with it to my MT as the car is set up for the MT.

Oh yeah, Heres one more picture of my son helping me lift out the old 92 engine. Everyone needs a good helper. I also had to replace the motor mounts. They cost almost $100 each but I found some good used ones on EBay. I also had to order a shifter gasket from Nissan dealership as they tear up when pulling it off.. $12. You will also need to order both the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets. I also replaced the clutch throwout bearing $30, clutch plate $22 and pilot shaft bearing. Oh yeah, I also had to replace the leaking front crank seal on the 98 S14 engine. Good lesson for those who don't change oil when it gets dirty. All this stuff is a lot easier to do with the engine out. You will need a long 3/8 drive extension and a short 12mm socket attached to a universal joint socket( a 12mm 3/8 universal joint socket is better) to reach in and remove all the intake manifold bolts. A long felxible nut/bolt grabber with the thongs on the end will help you reach in to put the bolts in and out as there is no room for hands and fingers in there. When you get the manifold off make sure you check the gargoile of rubber hoses underneith and replace any that look cracked or deteriorated. Hope this helps. You will need to have your own engine lift as renting one will not do. You will be moving both engines around several times over. I got my hoist at Harbor Freight Outlet for $150. A very nice piece of equipment. I love it, money well spent. If you gasp at the price just figure you can sell it later and recover some of your expense. Pete

Oh yeah, One more thing that I found out, thru trial and error as usual, is that when pulling and reinstalling your engine don't loosen the top motor mount nuts, just remove the bottom nuts. If you try to remove the engine with the top nuts removed you stand a good chance of ripping the mounts. They are expensive. If you try to bolt the mounts to the frame first when reinstalling the engine you will have trouble lining up the holes. It goes in easily if you bolt the mounts to the bottom of the engine first and then set the engine down into the mount holes on the frame. Use a long extension and 14mm universal socket to reach the bottom nuts from underneath. Pete
