I have inquired with Nissan and Infiniti on the part #'s and they are different

When testing the correct sensor side prong to ground the ohm reading exceeds the 20M ohm scale of my digital VOM indicating no continuity plus I have the ECU code for the knock sensor. Presently there seem to be no indications of a drivability problem. Since the knock sensor will effect ignition advance and fuel economy what is the the default condition for the engine advance if the KS is dead?

I have checked the dealers for the knock sensor price and came up with the following:

98 Maxima 22060-30P00 Cost $120 98 I30 22060-31P01 Cost $195

Question is why are they different if they both have the V6 VQ30DE engine? I would like to buy the Maxima knock sensor based on price if the electric spec is the same.

After market jobbers in Orlando spec the same part # for 98 Max and the I30 so they do not recognize any difference.

Thanks for the help

Have you been running low octane fuel lately?

and the dashboard state "use unleaded fuel only" and as an option use premium for extra performance. So what does your comment have to do with the questions I asked about the knock sensor?

Thanks

Only use premium unleaded, that is what the car is designed for. I believe if you run low octane fuel, it can cause the knock sensor to throw a code. Simptoms of a bad KS would be low mileage and poor performance. You may want to run a tank of premium through there, reset the computer, and check to see if the code comes back. You'll have to check manually for the code as the KS code does not turn on the CEL.
