I have a stock 98 I30. The car pulls strong up to about 115 mph, but doesn't seem to have anything left by 120 mph. The engine rpm is not pegged out at 120 mph, so it would seem the car could go faster. Is there a speed limiter on this car? If so, what can I do to remove it? Thanks

Yes, the '98 is speed limited between 115-120. From what I have seen, you can get rid of the limiter by going into the ECU and cutting the "pink wire with the blue stripe".

That is what I have heard and I suggest you research before doing anything within the ECU. I should take this time to tell you that going that fast is dangerous and you should never do it (read: I, nor NICO, are responsible for what you do to or in your vehicle).

Do you have any suggestions on where I could research the ECU information? I haven't found much on here nor anywhere else. It has been really hard finding things for my 98 I30. Also, I know you don't want to take any responsibility, but 120 is too fast??? I usually cruise between 80-100 on the highway. I get up to 110 when I am in a hurry. I hit 120 when I am trying to race, but it is really aggrivating to be stopped at 120 when I know there is more in the engine. I also have a 2002 Honda Accord EX 4 cylinder. I have taken the Accord up to 135. I ran out of room, so I don't how fast the Accord can go. But it is sad to know the Accord with only 150 hp 4cylinder will take my 190 hp V6 on the top end. Thanks for all your suggestions.

I found an article that helps. The article is in this Technical section, under the title How To's. Thanks AUDATIOUS for posting the How To's post. It really helps out on various jobs. Thanks NISTECH for your response too.

Let us know if you need anything else. I may be able to pull out an ECU wiring diagram if you can't find one...
