I have a '98 I30 that recently started having sensor problems, and intermittent problems with the displays ( odometer, speedometer, gas gauge, temp gauge, rpm gauge all stop functioning periodically, sometimes till car is shut off. Also having a P0600 code show up during diagnostics (possible serial comm link problem). any help with these issues would be appreciated. BTW the car only has 105k miles on it.

Hey there,
Welcome to Nico,

A PO600 is not a very common code. It only sets when communication between the engine control computer and transmission control computer are damaged. The gauge problem might also indicate an electrical problem between the engine control computer and something else.

So you have a potentially crippling electrical problem on your hands most likely there are several broken wires somewhere. The first place to start looking would be the place between the engine and the passenger side frame rail.

This is not a job for the average DIYer, you might need to seek help on this one.

Have you had any recent repairs or other issues.

:welcome: to NICO!

Steve has this one covered better than I ever could - but if you've had any body work done in those areas I would certainly start there...

Thanks for the replies, I'll have my mechanic look into that possible break in the wires. It seems my wife had an accident and had someone fix that side of the car without telling me about it. Will get back with an update after he looks at it.

Oh wow... that had to be a fun discussion with your wife! I feel sorry for both of you. My wife just starts these conversations with "I know you're going to yell at me..."

We've been married twenty years now and she still finds new ways to surprise me. I still can't get mad @ her for long, as she's still my best friend!!

:toast: Congratulations! We're at 5 years married and over 5 years dating before that and it hasn't gone downhill yet, so I take that as a good sign. We have decided that we're both too lazy to ever get divorced - so if it ever goes bad we'll just put one of those dual doors in the middle of the hallway like they put between hotel rooms - so we both have to open our door if we're going to tolerate each other at the moment :D

:rotflmao So I'm not the only one.
We are at that point where the weird quirks kind of cancel each other out kind of like waves on the ocean. I really like your idea to divide the house in half as an escape plan.

The Mrs and I were actually high school sweethearts and we have lived together since about a year after graduation...I turned 21 while living with her, so she's seen me do some really dumb stuff.
