hi..am first owner of my 98 i30. got 200K miles on it. its been few months since i had new brakes (rotors are probably 2-3 years old). lately i'm hearing clunking noise from rear when i reverse from my driveway onto street. very loud especially in morning after the car has been idle overnight. my driveway is maybe a 4-5 inches of slope above the street. could it be shocks/struts? no noise from the front. no noise from front/back when braking at any speed or turning. never replaced shocks or struts since i bought the car. appreciate any advice.

thank you.

Trying pumping the brakes several times before putting the car in reverse
The calipers might be sticking open or closed
If that works, you might try cycling out the old brake fluid with new (synthetic) gradually from the master cylinder

Thanks for reply.

Took it to local shop. Without any drive test, he said struts are blown up. So I replaced all 4 struts. Even after that, I get that grinding noise from rear right (behind passenger..not behind driver). There is no noise when car is lifted and tires are rotated by hand. And whenever I park the car with its weight on right wheels (weight on passenger side and its rear), I get that noise as i start driving back on to street. Noise is more pronounced in the early mornings while turning at slow speeds. Very annoying. I'll have the calipers checked. Could it be bearings?

Could it be the baffle?
This is the shroud which is around the brake rotor
It could be bent and coming into contact with the wheel
