A coworker of mine asked me about a very strange problem today. He said that its very hard for him to fill up his gas tank. If he just sets the nossle and lets it fill, it only gets a couple of gallons in before it backs up and stops. He has to sit there and fill it slowly, taking like 15 min to fill the tank. He's had it in the shop, said they replaced the filler hose from the door to the tank, and also showed me a ticket from a nissan dealership which showed that they had replaced what they called the 'canister' and 'valve', which Im assuming are some kind of vapor canister and the valve at the fuel door. Still the problem persists. Has anyone else encountered this with an altima and if so how was it fixed? thanks

Check Engine light on? You probably need a new "Vent Control Valve"

Basically your tank is not venting so when you try and fill it all the fumes that did not vent are trying to come out
