Hey guys. My car has been sitting since I deployed and my family has been running it now and then. The last time they drove it they shut it off and the brake lights wont turn off unless you disconnect the battery. At first I thought the calipers might be sticking due to some rust build up from not being driven but thats not the case. The fuse is good, the parking lights werent left on or anything. Any ideas??

Hello,

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. The problem was on the brake pedal on my car. There is a rubber insert similar to the clutch pedal. This insert contacts a button switch when the brake pedal is not pressed and causes the lights to turn off. When the rubber insert falls off after becoming brittle from age, all that is left is a hole in the pedal which does allow contact with the button that turns the lights off. You should be able to see it if you look under your dash under the steering wheel.

Not sure why Nissan did not just make the brake pedal solid.
