I love this car, all repairs have been simple to locate and easy fixes....untill now. About a year ago I developed a transmisson leak, not to bad loss about a quart a month, I only use the car for work so when I took a 1month vacation back in aug it sat for a month did not move, and to my surprise did not leak, untill this weekend the leak has started again and now its worse, its up to a quart loss in 3 days....the leak apears to becoming from the back passager side of the tran. The leak seems to be on the top of the tran and runs down . What could this leak be caused bye? And why does it only leak when its being used? I knoticed before that if I used wifes car to go back and forth to work mine would have no loss of trans fluid, aaturday I placed a cardboard box under car after a trip to store huge leak, today I filled care with trans fluid, went to work in wifes car just got home and no leak... Im confussed

Check the overflow tube on top of the transmission and see if it's coming out of that.

Yes it looks like fluid has been coming out the overflow tube but how/why would this much fluid be coming out? Ive stoped driving it, I put a quart of trans in car this morning drove all over town then work and was almost a quart low before I headed home, only sign of leak is from overflow tube

You are checking the fluid with the car running right? Just gotta make sure.

I've seen cars spit trans fluid out of the vent tube because water somehow got mixed in there with it.

Yeah always check running and most the time in gear with simeone ion the breaks, after this weekend and getting her up on a set of ramps then cleaning the trans good I did find a few things to add...trans mount has had it, where the trans mount conects to the trans theres a small leak, then a 2nd small leak where the passager side axle goes into the trans, not seeing these before could explain the loss of fluid. I noticed the over fill leaked only when full, also I took trans pan off. There seems to be a redish black greace stuff could this be llike some old lucus? This stuff is very thick.

Check trans at idle in park/neutral.

I'm not sure what the stuff is, any way you could post a pic? :)
