I have searched and havent found ansers to a few specific questions i have about my up coming auto to manual swap. If some one could help me that would be great. 1. I have a 95 parts car and it dosnt have a crank sensor in the bell housing. The 97 has one. Is this for the trans control unit or for obd2. Will I need to get a 96 up trans?2. if I remove the auto trans control unIT will it cause a check engine light?3. will i need a new wiring harness or can i modify the one i have?4. Is this swap as strait forward as it is in the 95 cars?thanks for any help

1-the 95 should have it, my 95 had it when i swapped the clutch. its to detect misfire, throws a cel2-..if your talking about the ecu..you can keep and rewire it..but it will cause a cel, get whatever your car is. 95 get 95 96 get 96 97/98 either 3-you would need the lower trans harness.especially for the crank angle sensor..4-yep.. I'll be doing the swap in spring, getting every part very very soon.

Hey I ran across this thread and was like MAN WHERE WAS THIS LAST YEAR!!! lol I have a kouki and "manualized" it well almost 2 years ago. I used the lower harness from an obd2 96 and BAM no cel. The only downside to using the manual transmission ecu is that it is speed governed at 120. When the ol kouki was an auto she would let the speedo go all the way to the bottom.....now only 120 but who needs to go faster than that right. OOO and btw if you get a lower harness the koukis use a different plug for the rear O2 sensor....Man so many issues if you want to know more just email me at
