97 to 01 Cluster Swap

I recently came across a 01 cluster on ebay...

2001

The only major thing I notice is that the odometer is digital.

I once read something that the ecu sends a signal to to the cluster to display correct milage. (Honda S2000)

Would this be the same for me?

Would I need the ECU?

Just thought id ask also for future referance for someone else.

From late 97 up it came with that cluster.

humm I think my car was made in December of 96 guess thats why mine isnt digital.
