How do I lubricate the sunroof sliding guides and what type should I use? All motors are working - sunroof tilts up fine, but will not slide back beyond the initial drop. I can force it by manually pushing and pulling on it, but it has now become very difficult to even do this.

Clean rails first, then lubricate with white lithium grease.

Might well be too late if you have burned your clutch.

Thanks - but I don't see any obvious way to do this from the top with the roof open. Should I remove the roof upholstery to access and/or remove the sunroof? How do I properly remove the upholstery without boogering it up?

Follow the FSM. I can't recall a post on the FGY33, but there is one on the G50 and Carlos' http://www.fuzzycats.com/J30 covers that model.

That link doesn't go anywhere...but you should find a sunroof place to have a peek at it. I have found that if the thing isn't moving that a cleaning and lub ain't gonna fix your problem....find a good sun roof shop they do these everyday.

Carlos Knology has a post about removing the sunroof lid (replacing weather stripping).

If you can still manually move the sunroof, open it halfway. There are 2 sets of lever type latches. One set is towards the front, between the lid and the felt liner and the other set is towards the back. You can use your fingers to release the front latches (near outboard side of lid) and then manually push the felt liner all the way towards the back. If you're lucky, it can go all the way, if it catches, then you have to manually relase the 2nd set of latches. With the felt liner out of the way, close the sunroof and you now have access to 6 lid mounting nuts/bolts. Remove the nuts and you can push out the lid. Be careful about the spacers for the lid. - you don;t want to lose them. Once the lid is out, you should be able to inspect your sunroof track and lubricate as per advise by Brian. You can also check your weatherstripping if it needs replacement.
