97 Q45 timing marks?

Just doing a little maintenance today and decided to check where my timing is at. The only info i could find in my Mitchell program was what the timing should be at NOT what the marks are on the VH41DE. For reference my timing is sitting on the furthest mark to the right. There are 6 marks on the pulley. So anyone know what the marks indicate?

6 marks, 5 divisions. I think each division is 3 degrees, so that would put you at 15* BTDC at idle. Sounds right to me. The last mark to hit the reference dowel should sit at #1 TDC. I assume "farthest on the right" is when you're facing the engine from the front of the car.

Yes from the front of the car. Hey thanks a lot! That makes alot of sense. I guess i could ease a bit more timing in there then:). My book says 13-17 is the range.

Get the knock sensors and watch the hoses very closely so you can pull the plenum on your dime next time before they fail.

Foregoing the under plenum hose replacement while replacing the KS and harness due to budgetary conerns.
