greetings to all, have been searching around this forum for a while. I see that alot of people have many different set ups but when I search or call around the only thing available for a 97 is the JIC FLT a2 VIP coilovers. I am looking for about a 1in. drop (nothing drastic). I live in NY and my car is taking a beating. Not looking for any performance, more just comfort, but really need to fill in those huge wheel wells. Currently I have stock suspension and 245 40 18.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do a search on KYB SR Specials. I like the the discontinued Eibachs with them, others prefer the Teins. Luxury ride is affected, but so is handling precision, for the better. Also have big sticky gumballs.

Thanks maxnix, I did see someone had that set up on here but when I go to the "KYB application guide" it does not show anything for a 97 Q, same situation with the Tein springs. Is there another vehicle that is compatable with my car? What am I not seeing here?

Teins are for a Y33, not a FGY33.

Search for OnTonGarage for the KYB SR Special. One company brings them into the US, but at about $100 than OTG charges.

ok, sorry but you lost me. Never heard it referred to as either a Y3 or FGY33. Which one do I have? I am thinking of just going with the JIC because I can find them (though I didnt really want to dump that much money into it) and I didnt realize what a task I was in for. Are the KYB SR's adjustable? How do I go about finding discontinued items? What is the general feeling on the JIC? Thanks again for your help.

I'm in the same boat as you UM97Q4.1. I've been looking into getting a coilover setup as well. The JIC's would be our best bet but the only problem I see with them is that most people who offer the setup require some kind of core charge for our spindles which costs about $400-$500 on top of special ordering the JIC's. To me that just seems like a hassle especially if you're only looking for a 1" drop.

The last setup I've seen for our car was the Tein spring + KYB SR Special shock combo which produced a decent drop. I remember a couple of members on the forum who sold these parts but it was a while back. I don't know if they still sell them but if you're reading please chime in!

Most posters I have read say JIC customer service is below average.

Okay, let me chine in here. I have the Tein springs and the KYB SR Specials. The Tein springs are your only options, the others are not made anymore. Let me know if you want them, a former memberwho is banned here can help you get those for about $300. One Tone Garage who I recommend highly is the man for KYB SR Specials. It is a heck of a lot of money to drop on coilovers and the Tein KYB combo reall works well, so I'd consider it.

I have a set of Espelir spring that I've ordered in Febuary finally comming in end of this month if they don't screw up the order again. After I do the fitment test I will be bring in at least ten sets of Espelir ESN-149 springs for sale in the U.S., Which is specifically made for FGY33 Cima 4.1 V8 not like Tein which is made for V6 MY33 and PY33 (Gloria Cedric)that is about 300lbs. lighter than Cima 4.1 V8 (FGY33) .

http://www.espelir.co.jp/NISSAN%202.html

Then If every thing goes well I will be selling my 1" drop eibach pro-kit springs. If you are interested let me know.

Hey audiovisiony33, since the Espelir ESN-149 is specifically made for the FGY33 Cima 4.1 V8, will the drop be lower than Tein's 2" drop? I'd be down for a set if the test fitting comes out right, lemme know how that turns out

You might be down to the ground.

I know Duy with his Teins couldn't drive up a 6° driveway straight on for fear of scraping.

Should be a good market for the Eibachs for real world drivers!

Can the touring model's adjustable suspension be maintained with a different springs, e.g. the Eibachs?

Audio, I like the way your car sits, I take it you are not too pleased with the Eibachs? What size rims and tires are on that? Do the eibach springs fit over the stock strut or you have a different set up?

The picture I have post have Eibach pro-kit and KYB SR with Volk SS 245/45/18x9(f) 275/40/18x10(R) and ride is great.I personally think Eibach has a ride quality of factory and better response in cornering than the stocks. Only thing I didn't like is I want it to sit 1" lower than what I have. I used to be an Espelir dealer when I owned Audiovision & Performance. I used to sell a lot's of Espelir and over all customers were satisfy with the ride quality for being low. Specially G35 coupe and 350Z customers with 20" wheels. They have stated ride quality they were expected is better than stock springs.

I'll keep you posted after I test fit the springs.

I think 1" is about as low as I can go, the streets are absolutely horrible out here. KYB SR and Eibachs seem like the best thing for me the challenge now is to find them. Thanks again for the info provided by all and if anyones knows a spot to get these I would really appreciate it.

audiovisiony33, where did you get your KYB SR's? I'm planning on throwing some 20's on my car, hopefully the drop is perfect with the Espilir's. Keep us posted, I'm very interested!

I got mine from a guy name Van who owns Oneton garage up in north cal.You should be able to look him up in the forum. Only thing you should know is KYB SR are stiffer shocks than the OEM shocks. When I first had the Tein and KYB SR installed ride felt like I was riding on a ball of air (shocks) not the springs because Teins weren't strong enough to control the shocks. When I had the teins removed and re-installed the eibach back spring rate balanced pretty good (just like factory).I had 140K on the factory shocks with eibachs and I didn't know I needed until I wanted to change them since I could get to the shocks when I was changing out to teins.

What is the part number? You shouldn't have any problem replacing the springs. If it's the right springs. Front are cartridge type so you have no choice to use the stock strut housing.

I finally got my Espelir ESN-149 installed and I'm ready to sell my Eibach pro-kit. Since you inquired first I'd like to give you the priority before I post them for sale.
