Hey guys, i have a 97 Q45t $164k miles, It is now stalling right at start up when ever the tcs slip lights come on. I did a search before posting this regarding the slip lights. from the search i replaced the abs relay (blue relay passenger side engine compartment) -- I am still getting the tcs slip light then car continues to stall (embarassing at a red light in lots of traffic) the code scanner says both ks need replacing, but i was told ks wont cause it to stall. Can anyone tell me how to pull the abs cods from the harness under the dash, or direct me to what else could cause the tcs slip lights to come on, cause that's the only time I continously stall. thanks

Check the alternator output voltage under full load (EVERY ELECTRICAL THING ON!) At idle, in gear and at 3000 RPM's.

Check what the battery voltage is at idle, in gear and at 3000 RPM's.

Clear the codes and see what comes back. And as far as I know Knock Sensors will not cause a vehicle to stall.

I will do that later and post the results. with your answer I'm assuming that low output from either the alternator or battery can cause the tcs slip & stalling. It only stalls when that tcs slip comes on

Well if its not the charging system or the battery then check for any TCS codes stored in the Traction Control Unit.

How do I pull the codes from the tcs unit? I've seen a post somewhere on how to do that with the harness under the dash, but for the life of me I cant find it.

It's not a good idea to replace a component w/o verifying it when there is a built-in diagnostic to identify the problem. All you need is a jumper wire between the Data Link Connector test point and a chassis ground. Refer to the link below - it's for a 98Q FSM but it should work w/ 97Q. Page BR-47 shows the component location, BR-59 on how to do the diagnostic, BR-60 on how to interpret diagnostic results and BR-61 for Symptom Chart.

You are right about the Knock Sensor. And as Paul mentioned, check the alternator voltage (speci is 14.1-14.7 VDC) is stable. as a failing alternator can cause all sorts of problems.

Make sure you inspect and clean the MAF sensor connector and then apply dielectric grease (@ $5 from Autozone). You might as well clean the MAF sensor using zero-residue Contact Cleaner or CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner from Autozone (@ $8).

Have you checked your fuel pressure?
