Hi All,

I just have a simple question (well if you know the answer) and was wondering if anyone could help me..

To make the story short, I got into an accident and need to replace my rear bumper cover..

I called junkyards around town and told them what I was looking for and they all asked me whether my car was early or late production.

My car is 97 Q45t, black in color. produced in 08-2006.

So my question is does the production date really matter?I thought 97-98 Q45s are all the same. When I tried to take the cover off, all I need to do was unscrewed some screws..

Thanks in advance!

Usually they ask that for bulbs and what not but bumpers should be the same. That's just what I think but let's see what others have to say.

I think by early production they meant the G50 and by late production the Y33 but I could be wrong. However, the bumpers from 97-01 should match.

Confirmed, all bumper covers 97-01 are same. About the only difference is trunk lid and mabe grille and those are both cosmetic not sheet metal changes.

Thanks for the answers!

So they should be exactly same, like the positions of screws attaced to the car??

and what about the colors?are there black models for each year?

lastly, I thought mine was Y33 but if it is early production onee, it's not a Y33 I guess??

Thanks again!

Everything will be the same. There is a black 97 color which is likely the same throughout the years as black is black is black (with exceptions) ad the official model number (Brian tells me) is FGY33.

So I guess I gotta call all the junkyards again..

So if they ask me what year AND whether early/late production, just tell them it is a FGY33??

Do they go by that kind of model name??

Only a really up-to-speed junk yard would know that. Tell them a 97' Q45, follow up by saying "this is the second generation Q, the newer body style" and that should ensure that you get the parts.

I think the goal of getting one already your color is tough as what will the paint look like. I'd be prepared to have it professionally painted, while it is off the paint job is really cheap and why not have it freshly painted.

I just wonder why they would ask "is it early/late production?"

Also, should I just ask like this..

"I don't care what production date it has, but do you have any rear bumper COVER for 97-01 Q45??

since they would all fit anyways?

As far as the painting goes.. I can't really afford more money than the price of the cover (~200), and that's why I'm just trying to get a black one even though it might be hard...

Thanks!

Yes just call, tell them if they have a black rear bumper for 97-2001 Infiniti Q45. That's it.

My guess is it maybe have some different components like the some of the 90-93 have.I got ABS and traction and 92's don't.I use 9006 lights and later models use H4.Maybe that's why?

You are asking us to guess what a junkyard will charge for a bumper cover? Why not get a real, true cost by calling junkyards directly yourself and get accurate costs and availability? No need to make this simple task any more difficult than it need be- just do it!!!!!!

car-part.com-great site

Be assured that that they are all the same i know b/c I bought a wrecked 99 and put 97 parts on it. The reason that the yard lists them different is because some other part on the car is different through production and requires a specific VIN to fit. For example, early model 97's did not have side air bags but mid 97 and on do.
