I went to tire plus to get my oil changed, The mechanic that work on my car said I need a new oil pan cause the treads on the old one is gone. So they put an oversize drain plug on my oil pan and telling me the next time I get my oil change I need to have the oil pan replace. Do I need it replace or I can use the oversize drain plug I had one on my Legend for 3 years and it never give me a problem. Also they qouted me 1300 dollars to replace it

If you go to pit monkey palace, they fubar car! Cost you many more bannanas than you save. Use old coconut for filter.

Perhaps they made it like ALFA and the lower portion is replaceable.

I think that answers your question.

As long as its not leaking I'm not sure what you'd gain.

I had a toggle style drain plug on my Accord for years. They work just fine.

Worked for Acura for a while. This was always a problem there because of aluminum pans. You can have someone install a coil in the pan and rethread the plug. Prolly cost you about a hundred bucks instead of buying and installing a new pan. I presume the post above is talking about a toggle plug which is a rubber stopper than when you push the toggle expands to plug the hole.

Well since they screwed the threads up you're gonna need a new bolt anyway. but I dont think i'd replace my oil pan just for that! VH41's have cast aluminum pans, so its not gonna be cheap to replace.

I think that answers your question. (ME)

If you had an oversize drain plug on another car for 3!!!!!!! years without a problem-why are you asking if a oversize drainplug will work?!? It seems to me that since you have more experience with this repair than anyone (I have six months experience on a Mustang)-you did it before-do it again! (also take a Xanax- LOL)

exactly!! That's why I didn't even bother to reply! Kind of reminds me of the silly questions people ask at BITOG. People would ask, "hey, I have 85k miles on my car using dino Valvoline, what type of oil can I use to continue to use from this point!?!" Are you serious!?! Use the same oil that got you to 85k without issues lol!! I barely go to that site now and days because of those same types of questions.

Come on gents, the guy was just making sure because im sure he only wants the best for his car. The worst question is one not asked, and technically all questions are stupid if you already know the answer!!!

Just answer the question! Is it necessary to talk smack. grip1968 the over sized bolt is fine as long as it doesn't leak!
