I did a search on this topic but nothing came close to answering my question, so please forgive me if this is an old matter.
I purchased a "plug and play" CD changer for my 97 Q45 and the plug does match up directly with the connector in the passenger side of the trunk. The changer does indeed seem to "power up" and load the six discs but the changer controls on the factory Bose head unit does not recognize the changer as being there, meaning, pressing the disc selection or shuttle does nothing.
After quite some time with support (from the CD Changer), the tech rep told me that it is quite probable that the connector on the back of the head unit (inside the dash) might have not been connected at the factory. Is this possible ? Is it possible for the changer to power up via one part of the wiring harness but not recognize any control features ? How difficult is it to get to the back of the radio control unit on the 97 Q ? I don't see any exposed screws or other easy "access points".
Once again, my apologies if this is a topic revisited, but I am a newbie... All responses sincerely appreciated.:help
