My '97 Q with 75,000 miles has been at the dealer for the past 10 days for warped rotors and because the ABS/SLIP/Traction lights are on.

Turns out, the warped rotors caused the ABS relay to burn out. ABS relay has been replaced and the dealer has knocked $200 off the labor to diagnose the problem, in part, because they turned the rotors 13,000 miles and 12 months ago.

So now I face turning the rotors again, or replacing them. I was thinking about slotted or drilled Powerstop rotors, but after reading the threads here it sounds like there is considerable support for the OEM rotors.

My question is: Should I go with Powerstop rotors figuring they're cooler and won't warp as quickly, or should I replace them with OEM rotors? Am I faced with warped rotors every 13,000 miles?

The key to potential rotor life, especially on the front, is the cast iron, and the mass of the rotors. In particluar, the thickness of the two surfaces, not including the cooling vane space. Thicker means more mass and more heat absorption before deforming.

Have the dealer check even new rotors for specified horizontal runout and parallelness fo the rotor surfaces before installation!
