Hi All,I was wondering what does the alarm system in my 97 Q45 cover.I woke up Friday morning to see my "Q" sitting on Cinder/blocks and my brand ne 18" Chrome Feracci wheels/Sumitomo Lo/Prosgone. Yup $3200.00 down the drain. My Alarm was still Armed and didn't go off. Yes it is still OEM but why didn't it sound-off?I'll loose $500 for my insurance deductable. Whats with the Alarm?

There is no motion sensor at all in the factory alarm, nor is there any glass breaking etc. The only thing that will set it off is a door or trunk opening without the key.

Sorry for you loss, you insurance should pay off pretty good. I'm sure they will say that only the stock equipment is covered, tell them you had the 17" Infiniti rims and go to the most expensive Infiniti dealership in town and get an estimate for those. I think you'll find them to be 300 bucks each, plus the stock tires will be around 120 each. That at least takes some of the sting out.

I think the BBS rims on the G50 Q45t are $845 each list. Something obscene.

Ouch! Did you have wheel locks? Of course they can break the trunk open to get the key, if they really want them.

The factory systems monitor the door locks, hood, and trunk. All are essentially checked by seeing if the door unlocks without a key being inserted and turning the lock. I'd get a good aftermarket system (I'm running the Viper ESP550 with remote start) - for a few hundred dollars it's worth it to protect wheels like that!
