97 Q replace transmission filter?

I have a 97 Q. I take it to the Dealer for maintenance. No here is my problem or question, I want to have the trans oil flush and the oil pan droped and trans filter replaced, every place here in Chicago says that the transmission filter is a metal design and doesn't have to be replaced. The car has 57,800 on the clock and I'm switching to Amsoil.

Is it true the transmission filter in 97 Q's DO NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED?

Depends on what you want to leave trapped in it.
