97 PF - electric door locks

I have a recently acquired 97 PF. It is the almost-completely-optionless model [it has pin-striping, A/C, and an after-market radio/CD, nothing more].

The only thing I truly miss in the PF are electric door locks on the rear doors; unlocking the rear doors by reaching around the support column is truly a PITA.

Are the components [solenoids, etc] for electric door locks pre-installed but unwired in stripped-down models such as mine? If not, is the locking mechanism the same, so that to install them I would only have to install a solenoid, linkage, and wiring? Has anyone on this forum done such an installation?

[BTW, what is the model designation for the bottom trim line?]

the model designation should be a 1997 nissan pathfinder XE, since XE was the base model and all.
