Is there a Nissan Tech i can talk to about how much fluid to add over the level of the bottom of the fluid plug on my 97 Nissan HB 2.4l 4WD Manual ?

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner...

The fluid should be filled to the bottom edge of the hole. Try to use a true GL-4 fluid rather than a GL-4/GL-5 rated fluid. There are some theories on the GL-5 fluids attacking the soft metals in the transmission. I believe the FSM recommends using an anerobic liquid gasket on the plugs for the differential and transmission to prevent seepage. You can check at www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

I had a '97 HB before my current truck and had issues with the plugs seeping ever so slightly until I noticed that in the diagram and started using it. If you haven't done so already, you probably need a new inner shifter boot... mine was rotten and leaking. Order the gasket for the shifter top at the same time...
