i go to the dragstrip on a regular basis, so the car leads a tough life. last weekend in my (97 maxima SE - 5 speed manual) i missed the 2-3 shift and had to fight for third. its happened a few times before.

Also in general my shifting is going to be faster and a bit harder going into each gear from normal granny street cruising.

After I finished up on my last pass down the track (missed shift) I was preparing to leave and the car was sitting at idle in neutral.

I engaged the clutch and put the car in 1st and it felt a bit different, like i could hear a little more noise or something moving the shifter around.

Being paranoid I put the car in neutral and began to move the shifter around and noticed that if I pushed the shifter all the way to the far right moving it back and forth. I was hitting something that sounded like metal each time the shifter went to the right.

In doing this I was moving the shifter around probably much more than following the regular gear patterns. But in general something was a little different.

Its been to days and I havent driven the car much. I dont really hear anything in normal driving but if i move the shifter around real good in neutral I can hear it hitting something that sounds like metal, (pushing shifter to right)

This could be normal, and I certainly didnt notice anything like this before the race this weekend but i wasnt looking for it.

Im looking for any possible advice on what i should do.

There was no burnt smell from the clutch that night, the clutch engages fine, it just seems that the shifter is a little different.

please pass on some advice, will let nissan take a look sometime soon, until then letting my girl rest !

check your shifter bushing underneath the car. you will need to remove the exhaust sheilding to see it but I suspect you broke it.
