Is the complaint about the noise it makes after it starts or the fact that it takes a few tries to start?
What type of starter did you install? Where was the starter made or rebuilt?
A failing Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS) can result in a hard to start engine. Basically the temperature sensor sends the wrong signal (e.g. too warm or cold) to the ECU that incorrectly adjusts engine settings.
A failing Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) can result in a hard to start condition after the car sits for a few hours.
The rear Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) magnet can pick up metal shavings from the starter flywheel gear. It is a good practice to clean and inspect both front and rear CKPS units when a hard to start condition occurs.
How long has it been since the spark plugs were changed? Were NGK plugs used?
