Hello all, I did search and found nothing that was "maintaining" related, it all seemed to be "it's broke, fix it".

Friend/co-worker has a 97 Max SE 5-sp, nice car. he's done very little to maintain for the 5+ years he's had it and after seen the condition of my 94 Q, he's seen the light.

So, what should he focus on? Plugs (best type), clutch work? Timing ?chain? He's asked about a "Tune-up", but do any cars need what we once knew as a atune up anymore??

Other than unusual clutch pedal travel, the car runs/drives with no "problems".

Any help would be great. Thanks.

the clutch pedal travel prob may be signs of the clutch pressure plate wearing out. but for maintaince set of plugs NGK plats (60k plugs) fuel filter, coolant flush, oil and filter change, air filter. thats all there really is as far as maintaince goes. chain has no recommended interval its considered a non wear item.
