'97 J30t would not start?

OK, my brother in KC pulled his '97 J30t with 80k on the clock out of his garage when it was 25 degrees out side to get the leaf blower out started fine ran it for 10 seconds. Four hours I hop in to pull it back in the garage and it starts and stalls?? Thne it it cranks and cranks and nothing. He floors it while turning it over and it coughs to life and belches black smoke out the pipe? After warmed up it runs fine? What is the deal does the J30 NOT like short starts when it is very cold out, or are the injectors leaking?

It does not like short trips on cold days. Let her warm up and she will be fine. Good Luck

Sounds like there is not much you can do about this issue. J30's are just not short trip cars.

Kinda weird me thinx..I run mine up to the convenience store..

Maybe a 2 minute drive.Buy a newspaper ,, shoot the shizz with the owner..start her back up and drive home.Never had a prob ???

Well YODA? Is there a way to lean out the J's cold start program for the injectors ? I rememeber working on a '80's Stanza that actualy had a COLD STRT injector taht injected more gas just after the TB during cold starts then shut off as teh engien warmed up?? Is this the way the J is set-up or just regular injector pulse and duration maped for cold start?

40 degrees cold HAHAHA Try 18 degrees that night, up here in New Hampshire some times -25!!! That is cold!

Ive seen a few peeps comment on this issue and they always seems to be up north.The J must run Uber rich when its cold as in what the Canucks call cold. lol

Sounds like injector leak to me??
