I am ready to replace the bushings in both front tension rods...both bushings shot, either cracked or leaking....bushings on order from Scottsdale.....my question is...is it ok to have the car lifted on front wheel ramps which give me more room to get under the car? or is it better to use jack stands and let the front wheels hang free? Will there be any tension on the rod, making it difficult to drop out when wheels are on the ramps or better to remove tension rod when wheels are free hanging?

Took them out today, using the car ramps....a bit tricky getting the big bolts out, but once they are out, the tension rod just drops out.

Well, getting them out wasnt bad, but the control arm moves forward when on the car ramps about a half an inch making it very difficult to get the tension rods back on...had to lift up the car on jack stands to push the wheel and control arm back enough to get them on...so, the best way is to put the car up on jack stands and not car ramps...

Thanks for listening.

Nothing like talking to yourself!

I have done it on jack stands on the Q a couple of times with no problems - but never with ramps. Now I know not to try it!
