A little more info please. Which 2 bolts are you unable to get to?

Check http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Altima/1997/em.pdf and http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Altima/1997 for more info.

do it all while you are in there: both gaskets, the under plenum hoses, the PCV, full intake cleaning to spotless, knock sensor, oil pressure sensor (they crack with age). don't forget the egr passages.you'll probably remove the starter, great time to replace with a nissan reman'd and be good for at least another 10 years.

Does it have a coolant pipe running in front of it? Bottom bolt on the passanger side? If it is the bolt I am thinking of, make as much room as possible for yourself by removing the front exhaust tube, starter, and knock sensor. Then break the bolt loose with a 12mm boxed end wrench and work it out with the open end. Make sure the surfaces around the coolant jacket are CLEAN. You would hate to have to take it off a second time. ask me how I know....LOL
