Just wanna make sure I'm on the right track. My truck starts great, idles great, drives ok. About 15 20 minutes worth. After that it will stall and wont restart until it cools completely off. Usually several hours. I'm think Dist. or ecu. as both are electrical. If I buy and its not it, I can't replace, so I really wanna be right. Any help appreciated.

Probably the distributor. When the engine stalls check for spark. If you have it replaced at a local shop I would go with a OEM new distributor or a used OEM distributor. I would go with a used distributor. A New one is several hundred dollars. Aftermarket is a waste of time & money.

Instead of removing the entire distributor & having to deal with re-timing the engine, it's possible to replace the coil & pickup without removing the distributor. Easy process provided the screws aren't corroded.

Well its kinda odd. I wont get any spark at all. BUT loss of spark can occur from several things. I know the most logical is distributor, but new OEM is 500+ I've read the same thing about aftermarket. I'd hate to spend 500 bucks only to find out that the computer is bad or something other than distributor. Just sux that I cant return it just in case it isn't it. I might as well suck it up and go get one.

That's the reason for purchasing the distributor at a salvage yard. They are reasonably priced & better then aftermarket. Go online - Hollander used auto parts Car-part.com used auto parts.

Ive been watching the local junkyards for 6 months+. Nissan trucks are few and far between. Last 96, 97 i found was several years back and robbed everything i could off it.

GOOD news, dist fixed my trouble. No more dying. Runs great. But the idle is high low high low. I put it in O2 sensor mode and its rich lean rich lean. Its not that bad but it a little different than before. Ive not done a complete sweep of the vac lines yet <tomorrow> but everything checks out good. Any recommendations on where to go next?

Does the engine miss when driving? After driving when you restart does it seem to run rich or like its flooded until the engine warms up?
