hey guys

i just bought a 1997 nissan XE pick up 4x4 with 148,000 and i need to change my driverside headlight and wanted to see if i have to replace the whole assembly or just get another sealed beam from advance auto. they sold me a sealed beam light silvania h6054 but when i search on the internet i also see the lights with the whole metal assembly in the back attached to it to attch to the rad support im guessing.

thanks guys and glad to be part of the nissan world.
i love this truck

The pickup uses a sealed beam. Pretty common for the metal assembly to be rusted requiring replacement. Chances are the radiator support has rust. I would spray the screws around the Crome ring that hold the bulb in place a few hours before trying to remove them.

:welcome: to NICO steveo!

While you're at it, take a look at the other sealed beam in your truck. It's really common for the silver reflective coating in the back of the bulb to deteriorate. I was amazed at how much better I could see at night with my old '97 after replacing them, even though both bulbs were still good.

Welcome Q451990 to Nico Nissan. Great to have you on this site. What type of ride? Excellent advice. Might be whats going on with my truck. Looking at the driver side the bulb looks like it's burned out.
