Hi everyone. I've started driving an 97' XE 2wd King Cab Auto 2.4
It's never been driven a lot, only has 39K miles. But sitting does them no good.

A couple issues I've found so far is A/C. Compressor will not kick on. Tried to charge it (with one of the deals from Autozone) and it would not take any freon. No blown fuses in the box and moved the relays under the hood around and no change. Switch on dash lights up when turned on.
Any ideas?

Intermittently and mainly at wide open throttle (passing someone) it will surge. RPM will shoot up but truck noses over. I've replaced the air filter, plugs, wires, cap etc.

Should I be looking at At Fuel filter?

Thanks for any ideas.

If a/c switch lights up and the air is on max. The system could be so low the compressor is not cycling. Try adding a can of freon and see if it cycles. Try cleaning the condenser. Won't hurt to replace the filter, due to use. Check engine codes. Just because the check engine isn't on doesn't mean there isn't stored codes. If you just recently purchased the vehicle, and codes appear I would clear the codes and do a recheck at a later date. The PO may have fixed the issue and the codes weren't cleared. Quote ( It's never been driven a lot only has 39k). Possible the A/C compressor is bad. Might want to consider servicing the transmission.

Thanks for the reply. The truck belongs to my family and I was just gonna start driving it.

As far as the A/C I finally got it to work by jumping the Pressure Switch. Not sure if that means the switch is bad or a wiring issue.

It does have a code for o2 sensor and evap

The pressure switch should be fine. The a/c was to low for the compressor to cycle. Depending where the truck was manufactured, it's possible there are two O2 sensors. One should be located on the exhaust manifold & there might also be a mid sensor. There is also a sensor located on the intake manifold. The sensor on the exhaust manifold takes a special socket, most part stores carry them. If you decide to replace the sensor make sure you bring the serial number. As far as the evap. Code The price of the canister is outrageous. If your state doesn't require emission testing leave it be. There is also a relay that controls the canister. This site also contains an online repair manual (free) which you can download and add it to whatever site you prefer to use. Good luck with the truck & welcome to the site.

Check your truck's service manual to better understand the a/c system. It's available at www.nissanservicemanual.com

The dual pressure switch must see a pressure that's not too high or not too low - so jumping it out is putting the rest of the system at risk if it's actually running below or above the designed pressure specs. When I had a '97 with a completely discharged system, I had to jump out the relay to the compressor clutch to get it to start taking a charge... The system has a few other sensors that have to be happy as well - a freeze-up sensor on the evaporator core, and an overheat sensor on the compressor, but it sounds like it's a refrigerant problem.
