97 Harbody - Buying advice

I am looking at a 97 with 120,000 miles, 5 spd, looks like it's in pretty good shape....











The owner says the timing chains started to rattle so he parked it cuz it's not his main source of transport. He replaced the front fenders, bumper, grill, etc... It has not been driven in months (thus the battery charger). Just looking for opinions/ advice. He is looking for $1500.00 I can do the work on it myself but my limited experience on Nissans is with the DE. I am going to look at it Saturday.

Nab it. That's a pretty good buy. Change the oil and drive it a bit to see how bad the chain really is. These are typically good for much more than 120k.

The clutch is the main thing that may or may not be real good unless it's been replaced. Good driving can get 150k out of a clutch, but most don't last that long.

it looks in fairly good condition.my 97 hardbody was given to me with 120k miles on it as well. now peaking 170k it has never broke down once, 1500 is a very reasonable price in my opinion.

have fun buying the air temp sensor when it goes out :'(i hate fuel injection@

id say go for it at that price, I bought my 93 with 124k on it, now have 246k with no engine problems yet!!! however the auto that came with mine fried after signing all papers to say its my prob. dealer fixd twice then i swaped 5spd . killed two of those so far on my third, bought a good one from everdrive with warranty this time,.. you might say I like to push that transmission to its limits with gear slammin, towing whatnot....
