Well as of rightn ow i have a basically stock 97 GSX and I have the opertunity to trade it for a nicely modded/decently clean sr20det s13 hatch.Anways I need some help here.the eclipse shows no signs of crank walk pulls off perfect compression @ 120k and has no aparent probs at 124k.I just want something that is decently quick/reliable.Neither carss have a/c so that isnt a deciding factor. What do you guys think.Sr20 OR 4g63.Both great cars.Lemme know

Really depends what you're looking for in a car besides decently quick/reliable because both are about the same.

IMO its a matter of cost and items for cars.I am just finishing a 550 hp 4g63 awd.6 bolt.you should know that the 4g stock internals can handle around 350 -400 hp before you need to start beefing the engine up.wiseco, eagle, arp, etc the list goes on.The good seems tobe the items avalible for fine tuning the 4g.data logger,DSM link eprom mod preprogrammed. And lets not forget AWD!!!! the weight to power is kindda high and it hard to strip alot of weight without stripping comfort.Dont get me wrong I am a DSM freak!!!I love the car. With my shepherd transmission and engine set-up.I can rev at 9500 RPM and dump the clutch, with the AWD gripping and my shift point at around 9700 RPM's...***** BETTER HOLD ON>>

Now I am new to the 240sx click but I have to say "ZOOM ZOOM"the car is freaking fun!It seems I have a slight sleeper effect with it,not like the talon people know. And dont quote me on the numbers and some one correct me but I read here in the threads that with the proper tune the stock internals can handle "500+"HP and the parts seem to be a litle cheaper.I assume youknow about the magnus intake..Its like 600.00$ well greddy makes one for the 240 for less than 200.00$Dontr know how good it is someone here can chime in,I was only useing it as an example. The weight to power is sweet and its weight split is like 55front to 45 rear.hang a freaking curve...It feels like its stuck to the road.So I could go on but I want to know what I am talking about before I give an educating opinion on the 240. still looking for some type of data logger pprogram, instead of the wideband alone.its ok but I like to see every factor of what the engine is doing like with the data logger,DSM link option you have with a DSM.Any way you are by now more confused, sorry but it looks like its down to tuning options and the amount of funds you have.I hope that helps.Spotteddawg

It all depends on what you want to do.

DSMs are renoun for problems. This is no secret but if your in it for drag racing Id stay with the GSX. Personally I would love to have an AWD SR cause AWD just rocks plain and simple.

Now if your not a big drag racer (not that the 240 is a bad drag car) and want a more all around car the 240sx with an SR is a very fun daily drivable car.

Tough descion.

s13 is lighter. both engines are good but s13 is lighter and probably faster around the corners which is the most important thing for me. wish it was a coupe though

Stock for stock the GSX will take it off the line with the SR pulling at the end. Both are great cars, I own a Galant GR4 myself. I think the GSX could be made faster for much less with the parts market being cheap as hell and upgrades being found local. But in the end you are limited by the heavy AWD. There is a local die hard DSM fan selling his GSX he has owned since almost new for a S14, if that tells you anything.

u can make over 300 hp so easy on dsm's with turbos like the 16g and others going for 500 bux. i almost traded my car for a vr4 but after hearing that the weight was around 3600 pounds and taking a spirited drive through some twisties in my car (pre-sr) i decided to keep her and im glad i did. good luck with the gsx

Me being a dsm owner with a 91 GSX for the past 7 years.....i wouldnt trade it for anything......the second gens(95-99)are sexy looking and with get you layed, but every moving part on the car will need to be replaced

The first gens(90-94,preferably 90-91's cause of the stronger 6-bolt motor)are ugly but bullet proof with a good built transmission.

The thing about people knocking DSM's is they either didnt do the proper car to the car or they just dont know how to fix it when a problem comes up........or they never had one and are just hearing from word of mouth.....lots of people down here in florida including a few close friends of mine who own SR powered cars are looking for good first gens

Nuff said

R u kidding!? DSM's are junk! the 240 and the eclipse are not on the same level when it comes down to relibilty...the only reason y i would ever consider one is because they're very easy to make fast. ur better off with a SR power'd 240, or just a plain old 240.

NO DSM!!!! my friend has a 1g tsi and his car had broke like 3 times already and he has less the 80k miles. Plus 2g's are less reliable then 1g with crank walk and all. SR FTW no doubt, now go by one. I bet you'll fix your gsx so much that the total cost will add up to an SR. SR20, end of discussion. DSM
