Hello everybody, I am in the middle of a rebuild. The car was burning oil and coolant so I tore it down. Anyways I have the head off and I flipped it over to get a look at the valves, I forgot about gravity it seems and I heard things falling out and hitting the valve cover. I flipped it back over and some of the valve lifters, the silver shim like cylinders fell off of the valves. I slid them back over no problem. May seem like a stupid question but are they specific to each valve, or can you just put them where ever? I know the camshaft bearing caps are specific to each cam lobe, are the valve lifters like that too? Thanks for any info. I will post a picture of the head.

Yeah they are specific for each valve usually. You might have gotten lucky, but while the head is off, I'd take it to a machine shop or something to get them to verify everything/rebuild the head (why not, right?)
