Can anyone give me some direction in diagnosing why my 1997 nissan altima wont go into reverse? runs fine will drive fine but reverse isnt working. Any help would be great!

are you saying the shifter goes into the 'R' position, but the car won't back up?what is the color and smell of the fluid?have you dropped the pan and checked the screen? how much varnish inside the case?
