97-98 KA rear oil thingies

i just picked up a 97 KA with 80k miles on the motor. i have been told that when doing cam swaps from a 91, you have to plug up the rear cam caps or something or oil will squirt out because 96+ KAs didnt have the rear cap. has anyone done this? what did you use to plug it up with?

The plug that's already in the cam...hehe.

All S13/S14 cams have a rear plug...the oil runs right through the middle.

So to use S13 cams in a '98 motor, you push the rear plug deeper into the cam.

To determine the distance, measure the stock '98 cam and see how deep the plug is on it. Easy.

NOTE: Not all '97-98s ar emissing the rear cam tower, so this does not apply across the board for those years.

Oh, and you just "press" it in (read: use a small socket or piece of round bar and 'tap' it in)
